About this book
Volume three, the deepest of the set — 120 challenges in the graph beneath the commands. Branch names are labels; commits are objects. Once a rebase or a cherry-pick has run, the label you were following points at something that did not exist an hour ago, and the thing you thought you were tracking is still there, unreachable, waiting for garbage collection.
Twenty-two puzzles on rebase alone (interactive, squash and fixup, --onto, autostash). Twenty on the object database — blobs, trees, commits, tags, content addressing, plumbing commands. Seventeen on the reflog, fourteen on merge topology including octopus and revert, fourteen on reachability and ranges. Every page has a dot grid; most puzzles cannot be solved without redrawing the graph yourself. Every scenario run against Git 2.43 with pinned identity and timestamps, so hashes stay consistent across pages.
